Cynthia La China, Founder, NYSalsababy Dance Space. An art director & designer by day, dance instructor by evening and performer by night. Cynthia has been teaching, dancing, performing and choreographing dance routines as alternative outlets for creative thinking and artistic expression.
Cynthia took her first Ballroom social dance in 1999 and was swept up by the rhythmic flow of the Waltz and the sensual feel of Rhumba. However it was the flirtatious and exuberant side of Salsa/Mambo that got her hooked, and she has been dedicating her pastimes to the art of Salsa dancing, and spending her energy promoting her love of Afro-Cuban rhythms and Latin music since 2000.
Having excelled in Salsa within the first year, Cynthia was invited to join a ladies' styling team "Ritmo Caliente Dancers" and had a taste of performance at various communities and Salsa events. Since then she has danced and performed for numerous dance companies, including Duplessey Latin Dance Factory (Duplessey Walker), ENIXE Dance Company, Mambo2ChaCha Dance Company (Claudine Curry), Revelation Dance Company (CeCe Williams), Michael Fielder's Latin Jazz Team, The Rhythm Divas (Jami Josephson) and more.
In 2004, Cynthia started a Salsa Kids & Latin Youth Dance Program at St. Ephrem's Church, sharing her love of Latin rhythms and movements with youths of Brooklyn. After showcasing her talented young students in local community & cultural events, she was invited to teach Salsa & Latin Dance Movements for after-school enrichment programs at various public schools in 5 boroughs of NYC.
Cynthia is now Dance Director & Artistic Choreographer for LSD Projects & Latin Soul Dance Entertainment Company. Co-founded in 2007 with her dance partner, Hector 'El Guajiro' Peña. With a passion to capture the heart and soul of 70s Salsa Dura & Afro Latin Funk music, together they created some spellbinding dance productions that dazzle audiences in a soulful Latin musical journey through high-lifting and jaw dropping Cabaret-style dance choreographies.
Cynthia & Hector have also taught all-level dance workshops at various salsa congresses, dance festivals and had graced many stages & concerts with top musicians and professional dancers. Contact them for private lessons, group workshops and entertainment bookings at
