Then I found Salsa...this love affair with Salsa dancing started innocently and it had stolen my heart...I was energized by the multiple spins and was mesmerized by the shines and styling that were displayed. I felt my body pumping to the hypnotic rhythm of the drums. Even in my sleep, I was dreaming and breathing Salsa. 123567 Needless to say, I was bitten by the salsa bug & had became a Salsaholic! With a dedication bordering on obsession, I spent all my spare time training in all forms of movement & rhythm dances, such as Ballet, Modern, Afro Cuban, Latin Jazz, Flamenco, Belly Dance, Ballroom, Argentine Tango, Cha Cha, Merengue, Bachata, Hustle, Swing, Salsa and especially NYon2 cub-style Mambo.
In fact my trainers are a Who’s Who of the best instructors, including Eddie Torres (NYon2 Mambo pioneer), Duplessey Walker (Styling & dance movements), Maykel Fonts (Rumba, Afro Cuban Contemporary), Frankie Martinez (AfroCuban Funk & body isolations), Jami Josephson (Ballroom & teacher certification), Michael Fielder (Latin Jazz & Performance), Dave Paris (Lifts & Tricks), SantoRico Dance (Spinning & Choreography), Amanda Estilo & Karisma Dance (Styling & Partnerwork), just to name a few.
Since the day I took up Salsa, I have not stopped taking lessons from elite dance instructors. I was eager to learn everything that was offered and was ready to take it to the top. Within a year of social dancing, I was invited to perform with an all-female dance troupe from Brooklyn and had a taste of the spotlight. Since then I was blessed to have trained and performed with many top dance companies.
To further my studies and be a true professional, I have been taking on a journey of DIVIDA Teacher's Certifications for all the dances that I love, starting with Salsa/Mambo. Life is a journey of exploration and I found happiness in dancing and teaching.
Through the years I have met people from all walks of life who embrace Salsa dance with passion. We support each other by attending local and worldwide dance events, and we'll continue to inspire each other by incorporating technique and new styles into exciting choreographies, but most importantly WE DANCE TO HAVE FUN!
